Services - City Pavements Asphalt Technically known as Asphaltic Concrete, but commonly called Hotmix, Tarseal, or Tarmac. This is the smooth finished dense surfacing material commonly seen in carparks and on main roads. It is a blend of graded aggregates and bitumen, manufactured, laid and compacted hot (165° C). City Pavements has developed particular skills and expertise with asphalt. Laying large areas by hand in a smooth seamless manner with the quality generally only acheived by larger paving machines used in major roading works, while maintaining the attention to detail required for small corners, features and services. Chipseal This coarse surfacing medium is generally associated with secondary or residential streets and usually has an amount of loose chip on the surface. This is achieved by spraying hot Bitumen binder and applying a graded chip, usually grey - but red McCullums chip is also available. This application is most suited to driveways, footpaths and as a first coat in carpark situations. Milling
This process grinds the existing pavement surfacing to remove a nominal layer or to the full depth of a damaged seal so a surfacing repair can be carried out, and new Asphalt re-instated. Generally carried out as pavement maintenance to repair pot-holes or cracked seal in driveways or carparks. Pavements Footpaths Carparks Roading Tennis Courts Schools |
